Cassandra by Starlight Spotlight, Excerpt + Giveaway!

I’ve been on a contemporary romance kick and this book caught my eye. I *whispers* ummm *cough* read gossip sites *cough* ;p I like to follow Hollywood so this story line where the hero is an actor sounds fun and like one of my fantasies. Take a look at the excerpt. <g> I’ve added Cassandra by Starlight to my TBR list and wanted to share. Oh! At the bottom of this post is a rafflecopter for a chance to win a copy of this ebook

"Raging Blue" is a romance novel driven with drama.  Ms. Flagler pens her characters in a plot of believable circumstances of which you hope you never find yourself in.

I Am, Indeed reviews Beautiful Man

There is a feel, with each of the stories, that I have fully ‘met’ the people involved, and understand that moment and their part in it, with clarity and detail that they perhaps don’t see themselves.  And that is the hallmark of a short story (or series) well worth reading.

REVIEW: A PRACTICAL ARRANGEMENT BY NADJA NOTARIANI

“A Practical Arrangement” enthralled me immediately, proving to be so much more than I had expected. Excellently written, but more-excellently characterized, tautly plotted, with both protagonists and secondary characters who are readily understandable and empathetic, this novel engrossed me and I quickly read through to the end. Even though it was fairly easy to intuit some of the outcomes, the journey to those results was most enjoyable.

Reading “A Practical Arrangement” left me with a happy attitude, and the determination to read more novels from author Nadja Notariani.

Now, while I haven't finished reading the book yet, I would definitely recommend it (check in later for my review), but I do have to warn you that the first chapter describes detailed child abuse and while the book gets better, if you're squeamish, you might want to skip the first 15 pages or so.

There is some tearful parts, one in particular, that sure had me tearing up, but won’t tell you as not to spoil it. The author did a great job of bringing the emotions out, I was impressed with that.
I was happy to see that this is a start to a fun series, maybe we will get to see him “grow up” like we got to experience with Harry Potter books, in fact the part where he is mistreated by relatives reminds me of how Harry was treated as well, Harry was treated like an angel compared to this poor kid.
I look forward to the next book in the Dare To Heal series.
5 out of 5 starts.

Books, Books, and More Books: Giveaway and Book Review of Cassandra by Starlight...

I just want to say Awww!  I loved how protective Ian was of Cassandra when she was in the hospital and afterward.  I found it interesting that the author chose to use schizophrenia for one of the characters.  I have worked with schizophrenic people and it is hard to deal with, I love that the author used this unusual characterization.

This book was about two flawed people who find each other.  I enjoyed that Cassandra was a strong woman who could stand up for herself and yet could allow herself to be cared for by Ian also.

I give this book 4.5 out of 5 clouds.

Books, Books, and More Books: Book Review of Raging Blue

So the first thing every mama should teach their baby boy is that when a woman says “no” she means no, not maybe, not yes, and not keep trying to convince me that you are right and I am wrong…. Seriously that just pisses us off.   And then we need to let them know that if they just keep pushing, they should remember that hell has no fury like a woman in a righteous fury.  Someone should have told Jaylin.

This book is really good.  I wasn’t sure I would like it from the blurb, but I did.   I give this book 4 out of 5 cloud

What inspired you to pen this particular novel?

This is a great story.  I was driving along and decided to listen to the CD's in my jeep.  Sting and The Police happened to be one selection.  Fields Of Gold came on – I hadn't heard that song in years! - and as I listened, the story unfolded in my mind's eye.  It's the easiest story I've ever conjured.

"Cassandra by Starlight" by Susan Mac Nicol

I liked how it went in first person with both her and Bennett, and well with Ian at first too. It showed the contrast between the characters, since Bennett is so serious with his family, work and friends. But Cassandra was lonely but pretty much hilarious on her take of things. Even the traffic jam, she'd made a light spin on it and liked it a lot.
The writing itself was clever, simple and quick to read. It was also enjoyable and gripping so you'd find yourself hooked from the very start. Great read!

Mademoiselle le Sphinx

Romance, mystery, intrigue, and a well written story in Cassandra By Starlight keeps readers going with plenty to make the eclectic lover satisfied. The story is a mixture of romance, plot twists that have suspense and mystery elements, and plenty of tension.

Storm Goddess Book reviews & More

The plot is quite interesting with quite a few sub-plots and few of them are quite mysterious. The death of Bennet’s brother and the identity of his stalker are what keep the reader wondering about ‘what really happened’. The book also deals with a life of an actor, a serious illness and the different facets of relationships. My favourite part of the book was really the relationships portrayed. Cassie’s relationship with both Bennet and Ian, Bennet’s relationship with his colleagues/friends and his family – they are all very different from each other. It is these differences that actually complement each other and bring a balance and charm into the book.

b00k r3vi3ws

After just reading the first chapter, I knew that I would stay up well into the read to finish this book.  And yes, I did just that.  The first chapter reads like any other start to a romance book and then BAM, you are head first in a plot that you have no idea where its gonna lead you and where its going to end.
Harlie's Book Blog

Cassandra by Starlight is a wonderful blend of contemporary romance, romantic suspense and mystery thriller, which grabbed my attention from the first page and didn't let go till I read the last page.  With compelling characters, scintillating dialogue and a fairly fast pace, Susan Mac Nicol crafted a story quite unlike anything I've read before.  Set in contemporary London, Ms. Mac Nicol provides a good backdrop for her story with a lead character who's an up and coming actor in both television and theater.
Queen of all She Reads

“Cassandra by Starlight” brings mystery, suspense, thrilling adventure, and fascinating cultural background. So this novel is yes, a sensual, passionate, love story-but multi-layered. Truly, I couldn’t put it down.   Although I do rate this novel 18+ for sensuality (tastefully sensual) and for some violence and suggestions/discussions of violence, I highly recommend it for almost all readers. It’s very enjoyable and I believe will find a wide and happy audience of fans.

If you like stories about actors, this is one sure to please. You get the feel of the life behind the scenes on both screen and stage, Bennett is a complicated hero but his loyalty to Cassandra never withers.  Will definitely seek out more books by Susan Mac Nicol after reading Cassandra by Starlight.
Musings From an addicted Reader

"Cassandra by Starlight" is a beautifully written romance novel that will keep you reading until the end. Between the twists, turns, ups and downs of the well written plot, Susan Mac Nicol keeps her characters realistic in her debut novel.  I fell in love with this story and recommend it to all romance fans.
I give "Cassandra by Starlight" a 5 star rating.

This was a fantastic first novel by Mr. Ebbers.  The story toggles between the Vietnam War and Present day.  The transition is wonderfully easy to follow as each character recollects portions of their past.  The imagery was amazing, and the suspense kept me pulled into the story.  Needless to say, I enjoyed this spy thriller so much; this book was very difficult to put down, worthy of a five star rating.

So many questions. C.S. Dorsey weaves a tale of  a girl that is lonely because she is afraid of being close to anyone. Sissy has even pushed her family away for fear of their lives and not her own. Dorsey uses God, love of family, and the bonds of friendship to create a world where her readers can escape to. She allows you to learn not only about her characters but a little about yourself as well if you know where to look or have your heart open enough. The Unsacred Gift is a wonderful story that should be read and shared with others. It is too good to pass up and earns Five Stars from this reviewer! Cheerful Book Reviews: The Grimm Chronicles by Isabella Fontaine & Ken Br...

This book was so much fun. Don't get me wrong, it's very intense and sometimes I was a bit scared (cough) but I just absolutely love fairytales- and it was extremely fun reading about the original Grimm ones instead of the happy ending ones we know today! Alice was a great protagonist and I found myself getting very attached to her. She was strong and independent and a serious kick-ass kind of girl ! I did find the beginning hard to get in to which brought the rating down some, but other than that this book was wonderful! Kudos to Isabella and Ken for writing such a great original book!

A major plus about these stories is that Alice is a smart, strong, and resilient protagonist who does not just extract herself from sticky situations through sheer brute force, but by also using her brain.
I think it was a rollicking good read, which drew me in and kept my interest until the end of the book. I am looking forward to following Alice through the rest of her story in the chronicles to come.

The Grimm Chronicles is a dark and fantastic retelling of the already dark Grimm fairy tales.  In this version one of the Grimm brothers wrote the fairy tales on magic paper with black magic, which brought the characters to life - growing more and more evil over time.  Alice is our heroine.  I like her because she is a total bookworm like me.  She volunteers at the library over the summer which is how she discovers she is the hero to rid the world of the Corrupts - the characters the Grimm brother brought to life.  Armed with a magic pen, she is charged with destroying the Corrupts.

Avoid ridiculous dialogue tags. Stick with “he/she said.” Don’t frequently use tags like “he rasped” or “she hissed” or “he spat.” These are the telltale sign of a writer who doesn’t believe
his/her dialogue is speaking for itself.

Review of the Door is Open

The Door Is Open is not about how to be a better Christian or how to live a more Christian life.  It’s about how to take the lessons of Christianity and apply them to our lives.  But it doesn’t stop there.  Dr. Cort delves deeply into the meaning and symbolism of the Bible, giving us what I would consider a gnostic interpretation of the deeper mysteries illuminated through narrative.

The characters are ones we all know, but they have a twist since they are Corrupted which makes the story unique. A few that make appearances are Prince Charming, Cinderella, Frog Prince and quite a few more. Each story leads into the next so make sure to read the books in order. The 3rd Episode was a little bit different from the rest. A Corrupted actively seeks out Alice, and her life quickly changes. All in all the books were excellent, I recommend them and will be on the lookout for more.

Jason Bourne, of course. All the physical deftness is nice, but I’d really love to rattle off perfect French, Russian or Spanish in the right situation. And if I could also throw in some Farsi once in awhile? That would be very cool. The whole amnesia thing would have its benefits, too.
Come read the rest!

Andrea Heltsley Books: Review of Hart Attack by Elle Chardou

Holy hot sauce, this was a totally spicy read peeps.  I mean smoking hot, steamy and completely yummy.  The guys were mmmm.....swoon worthy.  Andreas and Sebastiaan definitely cornered the market on dreamy guys.

This would be a book that I highly recommend to adults that are lovers of urban fantasy and paranormal reads.  I give this book four glittery stars for being super fabulous!!

"Lara & the City of Angels" by Elle Chardou Review & Giveaway

I have to say that I did enjoyed reading "Lara & the City of Angels" and found it to be a quick read.  If you like fast paced intersting erotic romance, then this is the book for you.
I give "Lara & the City of Angels" a 4 star rating.

Review: Lara And The City Of Angels – Elle Chardou

This was a very quick and definitely interesting read. The reader finds him/herself immersed within a story full of love, lies, and sex. Lara and Sean Buchanan haven’t been happy for ages. Their friends and family know it, but they haven’t quite come to that realization yet. Elle’s take on what a Hollywood marriage with a swinger lifestyle is like is definitely intriguing.

Indiewritersreview has a review of Wicked Sense by Fabio Bueno

I was drawn into this story from page 1, the writing was clear, well written and flowed; I found the characters likable and engaging; This was also a fresh take on YA paranormal, and I enjoyed becoming immersed in the world the author created.

Books for me: Racing with the wind by Regan Walker

The novel opens dramatically with Nighthawk sneaking into Napolean's general's private space stealing highly confidential documents consisting of Napolean's army advances...There are things about a book that appeals to you from the beginning and this novel had every ingredient to grip me into it

MALLORY HEART REVIEWS: RACING WITH THE WIND by Regan Walker_Blog Tour and...

Not only is the novel enjoyable as a story (the plot lines are neatly intertwined, giving espionage, royalty, romance, mystery, and a precursor of women’s movement towards autonomy), but additionally it is smoothly written, maintaining the reader’s devotion.

Little♥Hyuts: Wicked Sense Review Blitz

This was an awesome book from start to finish! Wicked Sense was another one where I wasn't quite sure what to expect. I love books of this genre but sometimes they tend to blend together. Fabio has an intriguing and fun take on the constructs of magic and life as a witch. He was able to produce an excitingly original story with a great cast of characters. You are thrown right into the plot and the explanation comes later. This is something I really enjoyed about his writing style.

Queen of All She Reads: Review - Racing With The Wind by Regan Walker

Racing With the Wind is the delightful debut release by Regan Walker, and the first book in her Agents of the Crown trilogy.  Set at the end of the Napoleonic Wars, this romance takes place during the changing political and social scenes in both England and France.  With charming characters, good dialogue and plenty of action, Ms. Walker grabbed my attention from the first scene and kept it to the last page.

I am, Indeed Reviews Racing with the Wind

I enjoyed this book: it was a fun read that beautifully described Paris of the time, including a wonderful homage to Notre Dame.  The characters were quite well developed, especially the details that ran to the tone and tenor of the time in which the story was set.  Scenes were beautifully described and detailed, creating description that led to imagining with little effort.   The artful crafting of the character and plot enabled me to feel as though I was right there, on a shoulder so to speak, to follow the action.

This is a great YA novel and I know many teens will connect with the characters. This is the first book in the series. Therefore, expect more to come about this story line and characters. I would of gave this book 4 stars

Wicked Sense Review

It’s been a while since I’ve read a tale about witches that captivated me from the very beginning and I can honestly say this was one of them.

The story was attention grabbing from the start and only got progressively better the more I read on. The author did a fantastic job describing scene by scene where you finally felt as if you weren’t really reading a book but experiencing it as you continued on.

Musings From An Addicted Reader: Racing With The Wind by Regan Walker Blog Tour and...

Racing With The Wind had a spark of humor, bit of intrigue, and a sensuous cat and mouse dance between the notorious rake, Hugh and the alluring but determined Lady Mary.  I enjoyed that Mary does not expect more from Hugh than who she knows he is, it really set the tone and left her character completely believable as a bluestocking hellion.  Loved it, would definitely reread and  pick up the next in what I hope is a new series.

Mademoiselle Le Sphinx: Blog Tour, Review: Racing With The Wind

I was able to dive into the book quick enough. The storyline was great, the characters were well developed, the chain of events were intriguing and the writing was easy and flowing. I love when the heroine is not conventional by society's dictates, standing out and capturing the attention of the hero - even when he doesn't want to be caught. This was one of those stories that I love immensely and couldn't help but enjoy it!

Books, Books, and More Books: Giveaway and Book Review of Racing With the Wind

I have a soft spot for Historical fiction that takes place in the Regency era in England or France.  I think it’s part of my general love for history.  This story is fabulous and covers the period of time right after Napoleon was deposed and Priny (the Nickname for the French King) was on the throne in France.

My Cozie Corner: "Racing with the Wind" by Regan Walker

Ms. Walker pens a historically accurate plot in "Racing with the Wind" with just enough action to keep you guessing untill the end.  Her characters are strong and believable with passion.  I totally enjoyed the book and looking forward to the sequel.  Recommened for all who love a good historical romance filled with mystery and passion.

Concise Book Reviews By Michelle: Wicked Sense Book Tour and Review

I will say one thing; this book hooked me on the first few
pages. It just draws you in, and is so well written, I was very impressed. I also love how it takes place in Seattle, so close to where I live, that it just felt more real. I love books that are written well about witches, and this is one of those.

Danasquare Reviews Wicked Sense by Fabio Bueno

I really enjoyed reading this book. I love anything that deals with magic and it always amazes me how creative some authors are. Fabio did a wonderful job constructing an entirely new magical world. The complexity of how the witches society is run is quite new and inventive.

Books, Books, and More Books: Giveaway and Book Review of The Grimm Chromicles

I’m a huge fan of fairy tales, but I have never seen a story like this one.  I’ve seen stories about fairy tale characters in the “real” world, but they always stay in character.  What I loved best about this story is that the storybook characters have a total change of personality… and there is a reason for it.

The story follows a different fairy tale in each chapter.  And the original Grimm story that each chapter is based on.

There will be 12 books in this series and I can’t wait to read each one.  I give this book 5 out of 5 clouds.

Genuine Jenn Reviews Lara & the City of Angels

Genuine Jenn

I really fell in love with the characters in the book and the author did a wonderful job getting the reader hooked on the story from the start. She gave enough details on what was going on but not too much to drag the book on. The connection between Lara and Kristian was amazing and you could feel the love that they grew together.  I would love to see more from these two characters and I look forward to the next book in the series.

If you want a quick and exciting adult love story this is definitely a book you should check out.

Books, Books, and More Books: Giveaway and Book Review of Lara & the City of Angels

Books, Books, and More Books

I was totally feeling sorry for Lara but she wasn't totally innocent.  This book really described the underbelly of the stereotypical wild party Hollywood couple.  The loose lifestyle, the swinger parties, the booze and drugs, the cheating, and the divorce's.

I would give this book 4 out of 5 clouds and a 6 on the chilli pepper rating scale because of the swinging and  graphic descriptions.

Wish I Could Have Said Goodbye {3 Reviews}

Wish I Could Have Said Goodbye is a novel that will stick with you for hours or days after you read it. The voices in this novel are unique to each of their characters, teenagers actually sound like teenagers

A Case of Reading Insomnia

I love this book!  It’s filled with the pain of loss, but also with the light of re-discovery and first love.

Reading with ABC

This is really a wow book. So many books deal with adults dealing with loss, but not so many deal with teenagers. This is a great book in showing how a typical teenager copes with a loss this great, and Carmella is the typical teenager, complete with the appropriate angst and rebellion.
